RF – S/T

February 3, 2011

Japanese jazz outfit RF have recently dropped their debut self-titled album. It consists of their own acoustic & organic takes on some stuff sampled in hip hop. If you were into The Visioneers, DJ Cam Quartet or The Liquid Crystal Project’s stuff then this is definitely for you. The standout tracks on it are Who Needs Forever, Love Theme From Spartacus & Walk On The Wild Side. The only downside is that it’s only 38 minutes in length and it isn’t widely available being a Japanese import. Good music!!

There isn’t much info to be found on the Japanese new jazz collective RF. On this their debut release is their own interpretation of  Stan Getz’s Saudade Vem Correndo on the a side. The flip has a cover of Yusef Lateef’s Love Theme From Spartacus. Only 300 of these smooth 7″s have been presssed so you better start runnin’ to your local vinyl spot asap.
