The bad kid drop a 30 minute set on Radio Nova in Paris. Madlib’s selection is always very eclectic and this is no exception with some modal/spiritual jazz delights, latin chants, a weee bit of hip-hop and the usual quirkiness one would expect from man of many aliases.

Upon 1st glance a few months ago I thought this was another James Brown RIP mix, I wasn’t overly interested in hearing the funky drummer being juggled for the zillionth time so I passed on it. Then last week I saw some comments by some respected DJ’s/MC’s so I thought I would go back and actually give the snippets a listen. To my suprise the mix was actually f**King brilliant and influenced by another James, who also happens to be a king.

About 3 ½ years ago I was at The End in London, Fabio was up and he played this tune which had me running to the DJ booth to see what was written on the dub. A few months later the same producer had gained some support on Soul:ution Radio, then soon after he secured a few 12”s on labels like Creative Source & Bingo. Before we knew it Soul:R had signed him for an LP after hearing his tune Global Enemies with a local Düsseldorf MC. The last few years have gone so quickly and thankfully Lynx & Kemo’s album The Raw Truth is finally here.
I reached Lynx about a month ago & this is what he had to say……………………

Paris based Favorite Recordings is quickly becoming one of my favourite labels of recent times. With a solid string of varied releases including Onra‘s experimental beats to the new funk from Mr Day, we now have the new 7″ gatefold EP from Swaziland’s Dwilt Sharpp. As the cover & song titles suggests; this is some sensual pychedelic & soulful stuff.
