1984 – Theme

She's a tramp...du du du du du du du..TRAMP

I recently grabbed this heavy funk 7″ and it has been on such heavy rotation the last few days, so I decided to make it my pick of the week.

For me its all about the uptempo instrumental tune on the B side called Theme.  It kinda sounds like Curtis Mayfield’s band with a the drum workout to kill for. I searched around on the web and there isn’t much info on the group 1984 except they come from Philly and consist of 6 members.

This 45 is released on a brilliant independent label from Bavaria called Tramp Records.  They put out all kinds of stuff from new funk to more obscure funk & soul reissues.  The label is on the same lines as the Jazzman or Dynamite …… The guy that runs it, Tobias Kirmayer,  has promised me an interview so hold tight for that sometime in the near future.
